Thank you for your interest in Johns Hopkins. Your official notification is on its way to you now by postal mail. In the interest of letting candidates know their decisions as soon as they become available, the Admissions Committee has decided to release this information initially by e-mail.

I am very sorry to inform you that we are not able to offer you a place in this year’s class. Every year we receive a large number of applications from highly qualified students, making the applicant pool extremely competitive. The Admissions Committee gives careful consideration to every admission request, and this decision was reached only after a complete evaluation of your application.

Remember that Hopkins is also home to exceptional graduate programs in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering—any of which might be the right fit for you later in your academic career.

Please accept my best wishes for success in the future.

Sincerely,

John Latting
Director of Undergraduate Admissions

i still haven't gotten anything!!

Dear Alexander,

Thank you for your interest in Johns Hopkins. Your official notification is on its way to you now by postal mail. In the interest of letting candidates know their decisions as soon as they become available, the Admissions Committee has decided to release this information initially by e-mail.

The committee has reviewed your application for admission to Hopkins, and is unable to offer you admission at this time. However, the committee was impressed with your credentials and would like to keep you on our wait list in the hope that we can still find a place for you in the class.

Accepted students must respond to our offer by May 1, 2006. Depending on how many decline our offer of admission, we may be able to admit students from the wait list. Our capacity to admit wait-listed students varies from year to year, and we cannot determine how many spaces we can offer or the amount of financial aid available this year until mid-May. The wait list is not ranked. If spaces do become available, the Admissions Committee will reconvene to review the applications of students who show a continued interest in Hopkins.

To be placed on our wait list, please return the card enclosed with your official letter by May 1. Since you will be facing a similar deadline from other colleges, you should accept your first-choice offer. If you still believe that Hopkins is the best fit for you, I encourage you to return this card. Also, I would like to encourage you to update your file with new information about activities and achievements that might be helpful to the Admissions Committee. If you are selected for admission from our wait list, we will notify you as soon as possible.

I am pleased that you chose to apply to Hopkins, and wish you all the best as you finalize your college plans.

Sincerely,

John Latting
Director of Undergraduate Admissions

PWNED

still nothing.
i hope i was waitlisted at this point.

Congratulations! It is my pleasure to invite you to join the Johns Hopkins University community as a member of the Class of 2010. As part of the exceptional group of thoughtful men and women selected for our freshman class, you will have the chance to explore your interests—no matter where they may lead. Hopkins is one of America’s finest universities, a place where new ideas are born. I look forward to hearing what you have in mind.

Your official acceptance packet is on its way to you now via postal mail.

In the meantime, to reserve your place in the freshman class, please return the attached Candidate Reply Form along with your $600 deposit. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions must receive the form and deposit postmarked on or before May 1, 2006. Given U.S. policy changes in issuing student visas for international citizens, you are strongly advised to submit your tuition deposit well before May 1. The process for issuing visas has become more complicated than in the past, which is why we urge you to mail your deposit as soon as possible.

You must also complete the attached form, FS-1U, and return it to us with your enrollment deposit. (Duplicate copies of both the Candidate Reply Form and the FS-1U will be included in your acceptance packet.) This form is needed to begin the I-20 process. Once we receive your acceptance of our offer, you will be sent information about housing and health services. Registration and freshman Orientation materials will follow later this summer. In the meantime, be sure to check out a special Web site just for accepted students, as well as Hopkins Interactive at where you can find student blogs, message boards, and more.

In offering you admission, I expect that your fine performance in school will continue; this offer is contingent upon the successful completion of your senior year.

Again, congratulations on your achievement, and best wishes as you complete your studies this year. I look forward to welcoming you to campus next fall.

Sincerely,

John Latting
Director of Undergraduate Admissions
