Thanks, Moviebuff. I was hoping somebody would answer. Spolin.....a new name to look up.

I haven't found it very easy to discover things like "Rutgers is all about Meisner" or "DePaul is faithful to Spolin," except through word of mouth. Definitely adds another dimension.

I love DePaul! It is so unique in a lot of ways. My s received his BFA Acting acceptance letter today, but it's been so long since he auditioned (Nov), I don't remember.... how many incoming do they accept each year?

So far my D received rejection letters from Minnesota/Guthrie, Juilliard, and Marymount Manhattan. She has been accepted at NYU, Ithaca, and Chapman. All six of those required auditions, so she is batting 50% so far plus a couple of nonaudition theatre schools that said "yes." I'm thrilled the percentage is that high, given all the great students/actors that are out there. Good luck to all of you - the waiting can be daunting.

I just got waitlisted for Michigan... Does anyone know how many people they waitlist? The accept around 50 to yield 20, so basically, my chances are 0.

Nick, no, at least in years past, not every student who would end up being accepted to Tisch Drama was invited to the accepted students' event. Usually, Tisch invites what it considers the top 10% of the admitted students (whatever that means .... don't ask me, because I do not know what criterion they use at all!) to the admitted student event. Tisch presumably does this in order to get their favorite admitted students extra excited about coming to NYU. But not getting an invite does not mean you won't get the fat envelope in early April.

NotMamaRose, THANK YOU! My daughter is getting very distraught because a few of her friends received the early notice from Tish and she did not. She was certain she was getting a rejection, even though I mentioned that these letters were only for the kids they extra extra really wanted. Now I can tell her that it's only the top 10% or so. I've tried to tell her that all she has to be is #375. That helps somewhat when I say it, but I think the approx. 10% # will help even more during this nerve-wracking season. Thank you for the explanation.

So you got accepted to USC, when did you get your letter? I am waiting to hear from them and I applied to both the BA and the BFA major. I am hoping they want me because of my talent since my gpa is not within their normal range. I did call last week to stay in touch and my admissions counselor said I am still in review because of my talent.

My D heard on her acceptance into the BA program about a week ago. That letter said that they hadn't made final decisions yet on BFA but would be notifying students soon. However, she just got her rejection letter on BFA on Thursday.

Not to sidetrack this thread but... How good is the USC BA program? My daughter applied BA so that she could do MT which you can't do as a BFA student (and she's been accepted) but we've heard so many mixed messages over the last few months. (ie. BA students are second or third class citizens after the MFA and BFA students.) Does anyone have an educated view of the BA program?

I too am trying to figure that out. It appears that the BA program offers many more options (at least in the first couple of years) for performance, MT, film and other liberal arts pursuits. In auditions and discussions they indicate they (faculty) are interested in developing a well rounded/educated actor. Then why a BFA? I believe there are USC faculty that teach both the BFA and BA classes. I hope to understand more on the 11th.

I applied for both BFA (lst choice) and BA (2nd choice) at USC. I thought with either you could minor in MT. The school of theatre programs book says: "minors available to theatre students" and then is lists dance, performing arts and musical theatre. Its on the page just after the list of classes. Still waiting for acceptance! I would love to get into either one!!!
