DC Duckee and TravellingHopefully, you're not alone. My D's been rejected from four of the college drama programs she applied to and expects the fifth (from Fordham) any day now. And for awhile she was totally bummed. But now, she's realizing that there's more than one way to become a working actor. She's applied to several colleges as a non-theater major/theater studies minor. For additional training, she'll take acting classes from a school (e.g., Atlantic Theater Company's school if she ends up in NYC) that's in the city where her college will be.

rejected from Syracuse...which is bummer because I was waitlisted last year...oh well.

DcDuckee, what is your safe school?

congrats to everyone who have gotten through...and coongrats to everybody else on your amazing spirit, you guys are os inspirational...so so inspirational :) and you should be extremly proud of yourselves...

i have 5 schools to hear from..and i should hear from all by april 10th...but why is the waiting in the last weeks the hardest :(..everyday seems unbearable to get through...

good luck you guys..and even though i dont know many of you very well...im so proud of you...

I can't believe I'm still waiting on syracuse and cmu...anyone else? I want to move on but cant seem too.

Still waiting on CMU and Emrson for BFA acting...

Thank you...but it seems so many have heard as far back as 2 weeks. I know I shouldn't make much of that but I Do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep me too..still waiting..and ive been waiting since february 8th..lol

Some have said letters come out in waves, some say phone calls. Who knows?!?! I know I'm reading too much into all of this, so I'll just have to wait and wait somemore and still cling on to some hope that just maybe I'll hear good news!

To those of you who have been waitlisted for Syracuse, I just wanted you to know that I contacted the school and they are unable to give any sense of odds to get in. Also they said they do not give scholarship money when you come off the wait list. Thought this was important info. for those of you, like us, who are still in limbo about waiting to hear and making decisions. We still have not heard from 4 schools and even with acceptances the waiting is hard and makes you feel that you can't make any decisions untill you know all your choices.

I got my rejection letter from Hartt today, but it's okay because I already have made my final decision. :)

I just found this forum. I'm actually having such a hard time with all this, see I got into a BFA (straight acting) school that is close to me, but I am STILL waiting for so many:

Ithaca
NYU
York
Emerson
University Southern California
Florida State (I got a call-back, but have they already accepted everyone?)

The only one I have gotten I regection from is Calarts, which was today.

I am at the point where I am just sick of waiting regardless of the outcome, if I haven't heard yet does that mean they all rejected me?

No it doesn't mean you've been rejected. The NYU letters are in the mail, Ithaca has not notified everyone (my daughter is still waiting), Emerson has not notified anyone yet except EA kids I don't think. Florida State has made their musical theater decisions, but I don't know anything about their straight theater decisions. Hang on---a lot of schools will be notifying in the next week. Good luck! I know the waiting is horrible!

Fabulous,

Not hearing does not mean anything in particular. Some schools just don't send anything out before April 1, some send things in waves. I kept trying to figure it out and speculate. It's not worth it. Ithaca said that it could be as late as April 15. The waiting is killer, but you'll hear from the rest soon.

A number still seem to be waiting on Ithaca, NYU, and Emerson. Not sure about the others. You should check with each school to determine their notificaiton status and method as it varies widely from school to school. MikksMom's D just got word on NYU/Tisch yesterday so they are definitely still sending good news and not just they bad.

Good Luck!!!

Fabulous,
By the way, welcome!! This is a good place to get support.

Fabulous,

FSU BFA acting usually makes its decision right away. If you didn't recieve a letter a week or so afterwords, I would call the school to see what is up. They send out letters abut a week after you audition.

If I am remembering correctly, last year Ithaca sent out their acceptances EXTEMELY close to the May 1 deadline!! It was, by far, our last letter. I know that doesn't help for those of you racing to the mailbox, however, the wait may be worth it. :)

*This waiting is nerve racking!! Unfortunately, we are once again are stalking the mailman for summer stock contracts/internships for freshman MT D, and summer camp acceptances for hs soph D!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there!!

My son found out today he was rejected by UCLA, which was one of his best auditions. (All the UCLA decisions are now online.) He's not that upset because he was accepted by Tisch, and still has some other irons in the fire. But any rejection hurts!
