Okay, I know many people wouldn't want to share rejection or deferral letters, but still... isn't it a little odd that nobody (on CC or on myMIT, in Boston or Miami or New Jersey or wherever) has posted anything about those letters yet? Especially since so many should have gotten deferred/rejected... I'd assume someone would be brave enough to share? (I don't want to end up being the first :-/ )

It seems like quite a few people already have their tubes, but not any mention of anything else. What's happened? Where are they?

I actually know about 8 people that got in today (from MITES program). I think one person in Arizona got their tube today, so I don't know what is going on with the mail.

"Unfortunately, I suspect that the mail won't make it much farther than Eastern Massachusetts inside of Interstate 495 (based on last year's mail patterns), with most students receiving decisions on Monday and Tuesday."

guys...you guys do know that different towns in different states have different mailing patterns. And well even though some parts of NJ may have gotten it, some parts may have not...and since USPS is 2-3 days, Monday was only day 2. If new england, doesn't get anything by Tuesday, then start panicking.

You're absolutely right merudh123, we shouldn't panic prematurely. It just doesn't make sense for a package/letter from Cambridge, MA to arrive in Cambridge, MA 3 days later! Other states and maybe even cities, one could expect a bit of a delay due to the thousands of application decisions and the Christmas season. But within the city, 3 days? Doesn't seem to make sense!

How could some packages make it across the country and others remain untouched? I just hope a large portion of the applications aren't lost. That would REALLY suck! I, for example, am holding off applying elsewhere until I recieve my decision (why take the chance of wasting hundreds of dollars unecessarily?).

Anyway, I really hope USPS can get their act together today. Imagine, if its taking this long for all of NE to get their letters, it'll take ages for the other areas, since the problems seems to be with the South Boston Main Office's routing of the packages.

Hey zking, you might ask your package-receiver to check with front desk of his/her dorm... sometimes they get packages in but forget to put a slip in your mailbox. Worth trying, I think.

Thanks mollie. Actually, I've also been bugging the front desk :-). It seems they open at 10:00AM EST today. I've heard from other campuses (that are open) that the mail for them is already in. I'm just waiting to call them at 10:00 so I can find my decision. I'd hope by now USPS has gotten their act together.

This really is getting frustrating. The MIT dorms seem to have recieved their mail and no decision letter for me! Why does it take so long! The folks at the front desk of Next House really are going to remember me. I'm probably the reason their front desk is always giving the busy signal :-). Anyway, now I'm forced to wait yet another day. I called the South Boston post office and they told me to be patient and that it'll probably take 3 days--and there are no shortcuts! I even called my EC and he told me that he hadn't recieved the decision. Interestingly, he was of the impression decisions will come in next week :-S.

Just hope the there's a big tube in the mail tomorrow (please don't be day after tomorrow!!!).

Philadelphia, Pa got my tube yesterday. Excited is an understatement. Talked to some about the mail situation. They may have priority mailed acceptances. I see no other reason for letters to take longer. Good luck all.
