Hello, everyone.

I am a GAP YEAR international student (Pakistan) who applied to 13 odd colleges in the USA for a place in the Class of 2017. Since I required full financial aid, I applied to only competitive, private school.

I was an average applicant, and I wouldn't inundate this post with my objective and subjective stats. I got rejected from every single college. I now have two options: 1) Attend my safety school in my hometown and 2) Attend Georgetown University Qatar, if I get admitted.

How should I proceed, guys? Can I still apply to good, reputable colleges that'll meet my financial need? Is it possible for me to apply as a freshman applicant next year if I choose to enroll in a university in either my hometown or somewhere abroad?

It depends on the college, the definition of a transfer applicant ranges from taking 1-post HS college class to taking less than a year of full time college; you need to go to each college website for their policy.

NOTE: go to the CDSs or the CBs Big Future for the colleges you’re interested in, the most competitive colleges are almost all HARDER to get into as a transfer than as a fr applicant due to high retainment rates (ie. few students leave, so there are few seats for transfers to fill).

Sure you can still apply, but: you’ve already taken a gap year, you’ve applied to 13 colleges and been denied at all, the colleges that meet need for Intl. students will not change next year.

Time to move on and choose one of the two options that you currently have.
