I recommend that everyone take a night off from freaking out about Yale and go see Rent. It was excellent.

Yes it was!!!!!!!!!!!

You're my hero(ine) for starting this thread. :)

Ahh I'm going on Saturday night and I cannot wait!!!! It was one of the best plays I've ever seen and even watching the trailers sends shivers down my back lol

I'm glad to be your hero(ine)

So good. I intend to see it on Friday, too. :)

I'm going to see it again with my other sister next week sometime. Ahh! I am SO asking for Rent memorabilia for Christmas.

I'm surprised that there are only three of us commenting.

Uh I've been commenting about Rent a lot on the Yale EA thread hehe.

Check the last two pages.

Yep, theoneo practically turned the Yale EA thread into a Rent thread...so no reason to feel that the movie's been neglected ;)

it was sooo good
i've never seen the play but i have already commented on rent now on about 3 threads
my two main thoughts regarding said play are:
1) depressing. tears. and i never cry in movies.
2) mark. is. hot.

I really liked it.

If you asked me why, I wouldn't have a solid answer, but there was something about it that was extremely profound. Perhaps it was the authenticy and humanity of the characters or the fact that they knew who they were and didn't hold it back. I don't know... It was awesome.

Mark is seriously my idol. I want to be like him when I grow up. I even bought a scarf in eighth grade because he wears one throughout the show. And I told everyone I wanted to be a starving artist.

I was really weird back then.

I LOVE RENT!!!! I went out and got the soundtrack. the movie soundtrack is kinda dissapointing. it's missing some of the songs. if you have a choice, go with the original bbroadway one. i kinda wanna see the musical again now.

theoneo~ hopefully you are over your scarf phase? ;-)

im sorry but rent was horrible.

Actually I never wore it in eighth grade because I ended up thinking it was the dumbest thing ever the next day. Then I took a break freshman year. Sophomore year I got a free scarf from ExpressMen on Black Friday (clearly the highlight of 2004). Now I'm (still) notorious for wearing the scarf practically every other day from November to March.

OMFG my friend made my day. She said she'd just seen Rent and that Mark Cohen reminded her of me!! I'm pretty sure it was the scarf. It made my day.

Also, I got new glasses last week and they're plastic (even though the metal ones looked better). I'm sure you can guess why.

My friend's fiance looks EXACTLY like Mark. And he hasn't even seen Rent.
