My dad went here for Post Grad, and had a position here for a while. would that help me at all?

I honestly doubt it.

yes it would - having family connections, i.e. being the child of an alumnus, gives some extra points

My dad wanted me to ask. I would feel guilty taking advantage of his connection, though....

Are you sure points are given for any affiliation? I always thought that it really only mattered if the relation went to Harvard College. I could be totally wrong though, either way it won't hurt you.

don't worry about using your dad as a possible perk. Everyone is going to use everything they have to get into their dream college. Best of luck to you!

If you have everything else going for you than it can't hurt, everyone else will "use what they have" so do it, good luck!!!

what about sibling relation ?
If son is attending Harvard now and if daughter applies this year,
Even though it is not much advantage, but can I assume that it is better than nothing ?

I asked this specific question when we were there for an information session this summer, (my D is a freshman and son is applying this year.) Was told that yes they will take that into consideration. As you say, its better than nothing, assuming your son is doing well and making a positive contribution etc... :)

Although my cousin got into Harvard and 6 years later his brother applied but didn't get in. He ended up at Yale.

Where, on the app, would this be mentioned?

There is a section on the application that asks if any family members have gone to harvard, probably on one of the supplement. Not sure since my daughter filled her application out and my husband proof read.

At Harvard, applicants are considered legacies only if a parent attended Harvard COLLEGE. A parent attending graduate school at Harvard does not confer legacy status.
