I want to see if there is a relationship between a person's SAT I Math score and their GRE quantative section exam. Can you guys, those of you who have taken both exams, post both your scores? I know you guys will have reasons for being reluctant to do so, but it'll help a lot for those studying for the GRE. Thanks.

they're almost the same, so there should be a very strong correlation for that, assuming that most who get high scores on the SAT math retain most of their basic math until later years in college to do well on the GRE counterpart.

Mine: SAT math 780; GRE math 800

if you search the other thread somewhere in this forum about SAT and GRE correlations, you'll see that this is indeed the case.

I thought the GRE math was a lot easier, personally, but I thought the verbal was a lot harder -- I'm sure people who have spent the past four years in the humanities feel the reverse is true.

Me: SAT math 690, GRE math 800
Fiance: SAT math 700, GRE math 720

SAT: 740
GRE: 800

I second everything that mollie said (the verbal really sucked for the GREs)

Sat: 590 Gre: 650

Although I have not actually looked at the statistics in the recent past, I seem to remember that if you compare certain percentile scores in both the SAT I Math and the GRE General Math, you will find that scores are much higher on the GRE. So one must look at their scores bearing this in mind: if you got a 620 on the SAT and a 700 on the GRE, for example, your percentile score might actually be LOWER on the GRE.

It seems to be the other way on the verbal sections. On the SAT I got a 660 or so, and on the GRE I got something like a 560, but the percentiles were nearly identical. I was actually more pleased with my GRE score than my SAT score because I was expecting a much lower score percentile-wise.

So I guess the moral of the story is to look at percentiles along with your scores because they'll really tell you how well you're doing.

It actually seems like everyone has improved by at least 20 points. Please, keep posting! And in accordance with emengee's advice post the percentages if you have them.

Sat: 740 Gre: 800

Overall my SAT score was in the 75th percentile for that year (checked collegeboard for this info) and my GRE score was in the 60th I believe. Thought I did better than that on the GRE math, but it is a smaller group of individuals taking the GRE's.

For my verbal, I was in approximately the 66th percentile on the SAT and in the 70th or so for the GRE.

Mine were almost exactly the same. BUT I agree that the GRE math was easier, I got a lower score on the GRE then I think I was capable of because I didn't budget my time well and had to rush through a lot of questions.

The rule of thumb is: you'll probably hold about the wsame (+/- 20-30 pts) on the Q and you'll drop 50-100 on the V.
