So it’s all womens, but you still have classes with guys from haverford, swarth, and upenn right? They aren’t completely absent from the scene I hear. Would you say that a substantial amount of bryn mawr girls have relationships with guys from the other schools? I guess, just, how “all womens” is bryn mawr? Is there still decent opportunity to form a meaningful relationship with guys?

Bryn Mawr is much closer to Haverford than to Swarthmore or Penn. There are around 3,000 cross-registrations each year between Bryn Mawr and Haverford, but less than 100 between Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore. And I have never met a Penn student at Bryn Mawr (except when I invited one).

Courses that are only offered at Bryn Mawr tend to attract more Haverford students than courses that are offered at both colleges. That being said, I have never had more than 2 male students in any of my Bryn Mawr classes. If you want to be sure to meet male students in your classes, your best bet is to go off-campus yourself.

While it’s possible to have a boyfriend at Haverford, the odds are stacked against you. The Bi-Co is 80% female after all. You are more likely to find a boyfriend at Swarthmore or Penn, provided that you go out of your way to meet people there. You won’t accidentally run across them on Bryn Mawr’s campus.

If you make an effort by participating in Bi-Co or Tri-Co clubs, or by taking classes at Haverford, Swarthmore, or Penn, you’re bound to run into men. Some people I meet at Bryn Mawr have LOADS of Haverford or Swat friends, and some do not. I’ve seen quite a few BMC/Swat couples and Bi-Co couples, so it can be done. You just have to make that extra effort to reach outside of your Customs group, which for some freshmen, new to college and trying to form a social group, can be difficult; and for others, it might feel completely natural. However, as b@r!um said, you’re not just going to stumble across them at Bryn Mawr. You might, though :)
