I am in an on-and-off long distance relationship, and I'm in college. I am 20 years old and I am female. I tend to go to parties and hook up with people. I am still a virgin, but I always end up meeting people at parties, making out with them, and sometimes I spend the night with them without having sex. I am attracted to them and I just end up sleeping over. In the morning, I leave and during the night oftentimes we end up talking for a long time. Is this normal? Who else does this?

Most hookups don't end up in sex especially in college.

sounds pretty typical

OK, why do you people call them hook ups if they don't end up in sex? Just a little beef of mine.

Like I said the new dating scene for twenty somethings work like this:

First base: Making out and petting.
Second base: Hands and oral sex.
Third base: Sex
Home Run: Finding out the person's name.

ICrisis, the terminology varies by where you come from. In my town hook up means make out, in the next town it means sex, so it makes for funny misunderstandings.

If hooking up means making out in your town, is there another term used to say "having sex"?

wow i had no idea hooking up meant sex

Hooking up used to mean getting together, literally. Now it means "getting together."

Getting with, ****ed, had sex with, slept with, banged, idk? lol. I usually just use the word sex or the phrase got with.

He had a hard-on at times but we did not have sex. We just made out, he kissed me on my upper body, and we held each other while sleeping. Somehow I ended up with a hickey. Does this constitute as "hooking up"? (Sorry for the details.)

Back to my main question, is this normal for college students? In high school I never did stuff like this. I only dated 2 people. It just seems risque considering we just met.

That's normal for everyone these days to be honest. There's a saying in Montreal that people there don't date, they just hookup (although it always ends in sex). Pretty much rings true in most universities in the country.

It's not a big deal, at all. People do things much worse than that on the first night.

I also wanted to add that I have only done real sexual stuff (as in handjobs, oral) with one guy. I do not want to sound promiscuous. :)

No, you don't sound promiscuous. You sound guilty, though.

I suppose it's the on-off relationship. Unfortunately there are tons of cute guys at parties.

Probably shoudl decide if its on or off

It's easier said than done unfortunately.

You know what is scary though? If I were not a virgin, I might have contemplated having sex with this guy. Is it really that easy to go from virginity to total slut?

Just make sure you're safe and protected.
You don't want to end up in a guys dorm with the possibility that he'll rape you. And tons of 'decent' guys try it.
That's my two cents. As long as you're safe, college is about trying new things etc, so do what you like.

You're not a total slut for having sex with one guy..
