Relative in ivy?

My direct relative was a professor in Cornell. Do you think they would take this into consideration? And, if i don't tell them anything about it, do you guys think they'll realize at all?

It will probably ask if you have any relatives with connections on their supplement- put him/her in. If it's a parent it will probably be more of a factor, but if it's an aunt or an uncle, I'm not sure...

If you don't mention it, they almost certainly won't know it - they don't check each applicant against their alumni & faculty records or anything, it would be way too complicated. If you want them to know, mention it in the application. Worst possible outcome is that it doesn't matter to them and doesn't affect your chances.

I all for using any advantage you have. If your relative still has strong connections with the school, then see if he is willing to do some bidding on your behalf. T

My grandad. He was a proffessor in Cornell like 30 years ago.

One of the supplemental fields on the application asks if any relatives teach at the school. Definitely mention it.

I dont know, 30 years is a long time to mention. I would put it in anyway, but I doubt it would help. I remember a girl whose dad was a professor at UCLA and was still rejected.

If it's positive, put it in. This is positive. You can't know if it will help, or how much, but I can't see how it could possibly hurt.
