Relative to other top-tier colleges, is Brown becoming more popular among graduating seniors?

This year, I feel like I have seen a lot of people on College Confidential listing Brown as their top choice college. I don’t remember seeing this quite as much in previous years, but it could just be that I wasn’t looking. Has anyone else noticed this?

At our neighborhood school here, there are 5-6 students who I know of applying to Brown ED. Quite a few (3-5) applying to UPenn, too. As far as I know, though, none to Harvard, one to Yale, 2 to Princeton (one is athlete with likely). 1 to Columbia, I think. I don’t know about the rest. But, as far as I know, Brown is the top ED/SCEA school here this year.

My guess is the pool size will be the same as last year plus or minus 3%. You’re likely more sensitive to it because you’re applying, which is perfectly natural. Best of luck!

@DiscipulusBonus, I just wanted to add, don’t needlessly worry about something you have no control over. If I were you, I would use this last week to printout and review and (if need be) revise your application. That’s all you can do at this point.

Try to do a cold read of your application from the perspective of the admissions officer. After reading it, how would you briefly sum up the applicant? Do you have a cohesive message? Is it clear and concise?

Look at every word and every entry. Is there any way to add additional context or color to an award or activity? Is there perhaps a better way to phrase a sentence? A better word choice? Do this at least once day until you believe it’s near-perfect.

Best of luck!

You don’t state your age. Brown has always been on the most desireable list because of its very open liberal curriculum.
