What date are the letters released/should be expected at our mail box? Or are they going to be posted online somewhere though I never remember hearing about an online admissions site for Columbia

bump…???

I think they email it, for sure it’s released online on April 1, 5 PM EST. The paper version will come in your mail a few weeks later.

Uhh… if you get in the paper version should come in your mail like the next day or something, I’m pretty sure.

^ Mmm… not necessarily. My Yale letter came about 1.5 weeks after the online decision was released.

At least during the ED round, I heard that Columbia’s decisions came very promptly. Maybe that’s uncommon, I don’t know.

early decision round they overnighted the acceptances an hour or so before they posted decisions online, so they came the next day. dont know about rd though

Does “posted decisions online” mean there was a “decisions button” to push, or were you e-mailed? Because I saw nothing like that option when you check status of the application.

Well for ED I just re-accessed the site for the online application. On the day there will be a link below the indicators of your application status (in terms of completion that is) that says something along the lines of “your admissions decision is available now”. Then you just click on the link and cross your fingers :P

I think they also send an email linking you to where you need to go for your admissions decision but I’m not entirely sure…

For ED, they sent out an e-mail like a day or two before posting decisions with instructions as to how you’ll be able to access your decision online. Then, like coolbeans said, you just logged back into the application website and there was a link saying something about your admissions decision being available. When you clicked that, it showed you a copy of your letter.

I don’t know if that’s how it is for RD, though. Someone said they just e-mail decisions for RD.

They’re going to either email decisions on April 1st or notify you where you’ll get your decisions on April 1st 5pm EST. Careful, though, if you have to access a link to get your decision… for the ED round, I couldn’t actually get to the site for about half an hour because so many people were trying to access their decisions at the same time.

I checked online at 5 pm for ED, but the site wouldn’t load. A few minutes later, it loaded. Of course, RD is a much bigger strain on the server so it might make sense for them to just e-mail out decisions.

P.S. Good luck, laura; I remember you from ED!

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks pwoods, I would say the same to you, except that wouldn’t make sense… so congratulations! I hope I get to see you next fall!
