Release of Decisions

I know traditionally that it’s the last Friday of March, but does Amherst also always put “Decisions April 1” on the website too?

I’m wondering about the exact date for the decisions…

April 1st is (and this is true for most schools) the “by” date, as in that is when everyone should have a decision in hand or online.

If they do the same thing they did last year and e-mail the decisions this Friday, the 25th, we should also receive e-mails near the beginning of the week, maybe monday, telling us that decisions will be sent on Friday.

AHHHHHH THIS IS SO EXCITING
I read somewhere it was April 15th, but I guess that’s completely wrong!

No email from Amherst yet. Guess it’s gonna be later than last year.

I asked the admissions office and this is the response I got:

“Thanks for your question.* The decisions are expected to be releasedsometime in the first week of April via email.* An email will be sent toyou prior to this to let you know specifically what day that decisionemail will be sent out.”

So, April 1st email maybe? I think we may be out of luck for the 25th.

Here’s my thinking: top quality liberal arts schools know they’re competing against the Ivies for the best students. After these schools release decisions on March 30 all hell will break loose - it’s therefore in the interest of schools like Amherst to get their decisions out before the Ivies. That way they can hook more accepted students who otherwise might be lured away … no idea if that’s true, but it’s what I’d do if I were an admissions dept.

And you would be correct.

Traditionally, Amherst has released admissions decisions (Accept/Waitlist/Deny) on the last week of March.

hey guys, as an international student, i am interested in the general view when comparing top lacs to ivies. (i myself prefer lacs better for the more caring environment/closer connection with professors and friends/serene setting… yet schools like duke and penn of course, also have their reasons for being top-tier.

Hey…
I see on some threads that some people have ALREADY been accepted to Amherst. How is that possible? Can someone please please tell me what time and what date our decisions will be e-mailed to us? I really love Amherst.

Does anyone remember what the CSS Profile indicated the “date of notification” to be? I tried to check, but couldn’t find it on the Profile site.

For my early decision schools and all others, the Profile’s date has been accurate.

^ the PROFILE date for Amherst says March 25th, so I guess we’ll see

I called up Amherst Admissions, and they said the letter itself would be going out “early April.” The rep didn’t mention anything about an email… I can’t imagine they’d give us notification any later than April 1st though.

A coach told my daughter his understanding was that decisions were going out the middle of next week.

@collegebeckons

Amherst, like many other schools, sends some students “Early Writes” before the actual admission decisions go out.

There are various hypotheses for why schools do this. One is that it gets you excited about that school before all the other ones and sometimes that affects your decision.

Keep holding in there. They will come.

I am a Senior at Amherst, so I remember the feeling.

I know that Early Decision kids were notified by email this year, but what about Regular Decision? We might be getting it in the mail.

Other schools (not of Amherst’s caliber, though) have surprised me through the mail on seemingly random days. Fingers crossed for a package in the mailbox tomorrow/Saturday??

I am almost positive they are going to be e-mail decisions. Amherst has switched over to e-mail recently.

Well, it’s 3 PM on March 25th…has anyone received anything?

ARE YOU SURE? Like, VERY SURE? 3 pm EST FOR AMHERST? wow.

I have a feeling they’re going to stick with their story about mailed decisions. Kind of odd that they would mail decisions after most of the Ivies have e-mailed theirs…
