<p>There was a good story on Morning Edition about the college admissions process from the viewpoint of the schools. They sat in on the deliberations of the admissions committee of Amherst College. Some details were given about applicants and, although no names were mentioned, they would easily be able to identify themselves. The committee members were very honest and obviously care a great deal about their difficult decisions.

<p>Thanks for sending that NPR link…a very humbling story. I wanted my son to listen but he didn’t make it through…it scared him too much, and he’s right. I have a feeling that all the top top schools are just like Amherst. it seems a miracle to get in. Fingers still crossed for this big week. Good luck to all.</p>

<p>I just got an email from Amherst. They will be emailing us decisions on April 1st. I’m a bit surprised that they are emailing so late this year.</p>

<p>@dmb1218 - I know the admissions office is very interested in reaching out to veterans (I am a veteran). Contact Tom Parker (his information is on the Amherst website) he will be receptive to any ideas you have.</p>
