Released from Wait List class of 2018 - Okay to contact admissions later in summer?

My son has been released from the wait List of his dream college. Would it be futile for him to contact his admissions officer late in the summer to say that if there are any openings, even at that late date, that he would be interested? Or once he's been released from the wait list is it pretty much over and admissions doesn't want to hear from him again?

He’s basically been rejected. Some schools retain a small waitlist while releasing everyone else; that’s who they’ll choose from.

It is time to let go. He needs to fall in love with the school that he is registered for now.

Thanks bodangles and KKmama. You are right. It’s time to move on….
