<p>Okay, so the viewbook I received from Colgate has a paragraph on the religious diversity of Colgate, Chapel House etc. etc. I'm an atheist (it's not like I make fun of everyone who believes, I don't care about what other people do, as long as they don't bother me.) and well, I wouldn't like to be in an environment where everyone around me is very into religion and.. um, something like that.</p>
<p>What I'm struggling to say is: will I be accepted as an atheist in Colgate?</p>
<p>within my close group of friends here, we are a combination of christian, jews and hindus - however, none of us are religious- i cant give an accurate depiction of how often chapel services are attended, but theres definitely no highly religious environment. Many diff religions have there own organizations like hindu student association etc that have big events (a big diwali party and bhangra night) so either way people can be religious but dont have to be</p>
<p>as for being accepted because of that, theres no reason you wouldnt be and plus how would they know your an atheist?</p>
<p>What religion you are (or aren't) has nothing to do with whether you're accepted.</p>
<p>I didn't mean accepted as in accepted to enroll at Colgate. I meant accepted socially.</p>
<p>I wouldn't worry about it at ALL. I have almost no clue what religions my friends are or aren't, and I'd say that 99% of the student body doesn't care at all. (I mean they care about their respective religions, but I seriously doubt you'd get any beef about being an atheist).</p>
