Hi, I go to a christian school and I have all A's in AP/Honors classes... except one... I received a B+ in religion (which is not honors, of course, and for which there is no final exam so no way to raise my grade now). I was wondering if I applied to an Ivy League, or school such as Berkely, UNC, etc., would this affect my GPA as they view it? My school said that it is not approved by colleges as an academic course, but my school itself does factor religion into GPA and sends it out like this; will the colleges factor it back out, or will that B stay? Will it be viewed as "not as bad" as getting a B in another course? please help...

If you tried to explain away a B+, any reasonable human would feel the urge to swat you with newspaper.

I hope you understand what I’m saying here.

^ what he/she said

Do you honestly think that a single B+ in ANY class makes you an unlikely candidate to a top tier school? Really?

Okay guys, I know a B is not the end of the world, I just know that, all else being equal, an A is preferable to a B, correct? So I am wondering if this is still true for religion, or is it not even counted? Let’s say I got an F in religion (i would probably be suspended from my High school, but say I wasn’t.) Would THAT affect my chances at college at all? or do they not even look at religion.

Maybe if it were a B-. Or would even a B- in any class look that bad?

Obviously one class won’t make the difference, but I see where he’s coming from. I also go to a religious school and we have Theology classes every semester; it’s not unreasonable to wonder whether adcoms will disregard these 4 (or however many) classes.
