Religion on campus

I am a future applicant of Loyola Marymount university and I was curious about the religious aspect of the school. although I am religious myself, I was wondering if you have to be catholic/if they make you do religious studies as part of the curriculum.

You do not need to be catholic. I’m not sure but I believe there is a theology requirement but it can be about any religious topic.

All the Jesuit universities have requirements to take a core course or two in theology/philosophy. LMU is particularly tolerant and welcoming of all religious traditions (or no religious tradition). There are Jewish rabbis on staff, Muslim faculty teaching religion, etc. Very tolerant of LGBT community, too. My son was at Boston College as a freshman and tells me the theology/philosophy core courses he took last year were stunning and memorable. He transferred to LMU this fall to be in film production, but has not taken further religious-oriented courses as he fulfilled the core requirement at BC.
