religion

what is the religion scene like at michigan? is there one dominant religion? a mix? anything you know would be great.. thanks!

As you'd probably expect, there's a big mix. Some students don't pursue any religious activities at all, and others do. For those who want to maintain their religious/spiritual life during their time at U-M, there are many resources.

In addition to student organizations that are geared to certain faiths and denominations, a number of churches and denominations have facilities close to campus. For example, within a few blocks of each other in an area just south of central campus you can find a Presbyerian church, an LDS temple, the Hillel building, and a Quaker meeting house. Ann Arbor is big enough to support a lot of different congregations, and even ones that aren't close to campus are attended by students.

A school with close to 40,000 and a cosmopolitan, highly tolerant city with close to 200,000 are going to have all sorts of religious offerings.

The university has several religious groups covering all religions from Budhism, to Islam, to Judaism, to Catholicism, to Hinduism etc...

Furthermore, Ann Arbor as a city has several Temples (Hindu and Jewish), Mosques and Churches of all denominations.

However, like any enlightened city and campus, religion in Ann Arbor/Michigan is more of a personal pursuit than anything else. Students do not push it onto fellow students and most people in Ann Arbor are not exactly the preaching kind.
