Since we have been somewhat discussing the costs of our kids musical advancements, newer members might be interested in yet another cost they will face in college. DS's college bill boasts $1250 year in "music" related fees. These cover everything fom concert attendance, hall use for performances and assorted other fees specific to his majors. I should note that my son is double majoring and music ed fees are part of the above.

Anyway, when it comes time to compare apples and oranges, keep these fees in mind :-))

Sagiter, good thing to post. I had everything figured down to the dime and I was very surprised when the bill came in and there were these additional charges!

Need to ask if school has additional charges. DD does not have any except for the $25 paid to the person who records on DVD her recital performances. Everything else is included.

All is included for my D too, so it does vary with the school. The one big “hidden” charge to check on- for VP majors- is an accompanist fee. While it’s bundled into the tuition at many of the conservatories, I found that for instance, at the SUNY schools there is a substantial extra charge plus the added fun of finding the accompanist and making one’s own arrangements.
