Remember when colleges raised tuition to attract more students?

<p>Here's an interesting historic CC link referencing a 2006 NYT article about colleges raising costs to attract more applicants. The dynamic then was, if it costs more, it must be better. My how times change. Wonder what would happen if colleges started to drop tuition?</p>

<p>Ursinus was one of the schools mentioned but many others did the same. U Richmond, Swarthmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Notre Dame, Hendrix College are all mentioned. It was something all the colleges were aware of to be sure. They raised sticker prices and folded more money into aid. Sigh. We have met the enemy and it is us?</p>
