Remembering words

Haha I think thats pretty good^

I could never remember what “abash” meant until I read Up Your Score.

Basically, abashed means to be embarrassed. But here’s the sentence from Up Your Score:

Al was abashed at a bash when he drank too much and fell in the trash :).

Wow great ideas guys (:
And braniac, I drew a broccoli. (You know the STEM) and then I thought, well one broccoli is kinda conservative on the food? So I guess I thought little food = 1 broccoli. idk It helped me XD

^Lol iceqube, that sentence actually made me laugh :)

Katrina0,

That makes two of us who found Iceqube’s example funny xD.

Here’s another one :).

abase - to lower or degrade

Paul, I will not abase myself by going to a base with you on our first date. :D!!

When you have trouble remembering a word, make a mnemonic sentence to help. In case you don’t know, a mnemonic sentence is a sentence that helps you remember the definition of the word.

For instance, an anarchist is someone who believes in anarchy or disorder. So a mnemonic sentence would be “John was an anarchist; he hated all rules and loved chaos.”

If you forget the word but remember the sentence, you can figure out what anarchist means. It works even better when the sentence is true, so if you know someone who believes in anarchy, use his or her name instead.

Then use the words as much as possible in every day speech.

IceQube,

Your examples are pretty fun, quickly send them to a publisher and become the next Direct Hits!!!

poor paul :frowning: hehe

Leave some of your flashcards in the bathroom. You’d be amazed at how much time you actually spend in there, and as a result, how many words you’ll learn.

HAHAHAA^ Thank you. I’m definately going to do that.

And also does anyone mind helping me with my SAT essay?
