Reminder: you can sign up for UCLA Summer School now

Summer sessions is open to everyone, so sign up now. If you are admitted, your name will be matched to your admitted student ID number and you will automatically receive the credit. No extra work there.

If you are not admitted, all you lose is the registration fee as all the fees are not due until a date that's weeks after admission decisions.

I signed up for Math 115A in Session A.

I have some questions regarding summer classes at UCLA, or at any UC for that matter.

Obviously, if we are admitted, we have to turn in our transcript grades (up to spring) in July.

Question #1: Can we take classes from our CC and then submit our summer grades in September?

Question #2: Let’s say I’m not accepted to UCLA, but take summer courses at UCLA. Would the class transfer to another UC?

Question #3: If it’s open to everyone, can you still take summer classes at UCLA even if you’re not admitted to UCLA? (I guess I’m wondering if you could elaborate more on why you would lose the registration fee if you are not admited)

Yes

I’m not sure. I suppose a lower division class like Physics or Biology or Calculus would transfer fine. You’d probably just have to check with the other UCs.

Yes. Anybody in the world can take a UCLA class in the summer as a visiting student. Simply fill out the form here:
[UCLA Summer Sessions Online Registration](http://www.summer.ucla.edu/EnrollRegister/register.cfm)
and they’ll give you a UCLA ID that you can use to log into URSA and MyUCLA to sign up for classes.

You’ll need to pay $150 at sign up, and this is nonrefundable.
Full payment is due by May 21, 2010 for non-UC students only, hence if you don’t get in you just drop all the classes before they start and all you lose is that $150 at sign up.

BTW, you also get a UCLA email address. It’s the username you sign up with after you get your UID, so make sure it’s nice. I have mine in this format: <first name=“”><middle initial=“”><last initial=“”>@ucla.edu .</last></middle></first>

when you say ‘if you don’t get in,’ you mean if you don’t get into the class? This is the part I guess I’m confused about.

I’m guessing the chances of us getting into a summer class **after **we get accepted in April are slim to none?

I meant if you don’t get admitted to UCLA in the Fall. But yes, a lot of classes for the summer are already full or have only a few spots left.

I’m not sure how these can both be true:

1) Anyone can take UCLA classes in the summer as a visiting student.

Yet,

2) If you are not admitted for fall, you have to drop all the classes you had signed up for summer.

You don’t have to drop the summer classes if you’re not admitted.

I was just explaining how if you don’t get in and want to take summer school at another UC, you can drop all the summer classes you signed up for and only lose $150.

Question:

If you still in community college, you can still sign up for UCLA summer course right? If I did take it, can it be transferable to any college?

Yes. In fact, you can even sign up for UCLA and CCC classes at the same time if you wanted. The University sets no restrictions on this.

Once again, you’d have to check with the college you want it to transfer to.
