At the beginning of my freshmen year, I had participated in Graphic Design for my elective track, and got an A in the class. However, the next year I was removed from the the elective track into another one due to the fact that computer space was limited and accommodations had to be made. As junior year came about, I was finally placed back on the elective track, but due to my schedule, they had no choice but to place me in AP Studio Art 2D, which is a huge leap from the introductory course I took, not to mention it had been an entire year since I had worked with programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. Therefore, I had extreme trouble keeping up with the class, and the circumstances were most definitely not in my favor. Alongside misunderstandings and issues with communication, I ended up with a 71 in the class the first semester.
Prior to this, I had not received anything that was a C or lower. I had managed A’s and B’s in all of my classes, with the majority of them being AP and honors courses. This year, I had taken 4 other AP courses and 1 honors course and managed 4 A’s and 1 B out of the five. However, the 71 in graphics not only significantly hurt my GPA, but removed me from the honor roll and potentially hurt my qualifications for National Honors Society.
I want to do whatever I can to either alleviate the grade or nullify it completely, since colleges will only look at the GPA and not the individual classes, but I currently have no idea how high school transcripts work. Is it possible to remove grades from your transcript, given that you give up the credit received in the class, essentially removing the grade from my transcript? Since it is a semester, I would lose 0.5 of a credit, but I have enough elective credits to make graduation requirements. I am also assuming that something along the lines of nullification exists, since you would be revoking the credit.
