Is anybody on here applying to REMS? Does anybody know whether not getting into REMS impacts your chances to get into Rochester?
REMS is a really really long shot for me with a 3.6. UW average (4.0 or higher weighed) and an SAT of 2060 (math: 600, CR: 750, Writting:710).
I have really great recommendations and great essays.
I have been doing Karate for 7 years and volunteering at my school for 3 years and competed and won several medals
I have been playing the piano for 13 years and won several competitions
I have done research for 2 years and won several competitions.
What do you think?

Failing to gain acceptance into the REMS programs will not negatively impact your chances of gaining admission to UR.

I don’t chance REMS applicants because I don’t know enough about the process (and D2 didn’t go that route), but she had a number of friends who were in REMS. And several HS classmates who were accepted into other BA/MD programs.

Research is important, but clinical volunteering and physician shadowing are just as or even more important. Have you done any of those types of activities?

No, unfortunately I haven’t gotten to do any physician shadowing. I have made plans to volunteer and shadow after November but that won’t get onto my application.

Did you know there is a whole subforum devoted to BA/MD programs?

I don’t how to post a link from my phone, but if you go down to the grad/ professional section, under the pre-med + med school heading is a listing for Multiple Degree Programs. It’s all about BA/MD programs.

Hey @tempe39, are you applying to REMS still? I’m in a similar situation as you with my sat scores and everything. Not sure what my chances would be because of how insanely competitive this program is.

If you want to know your chances, then apply and find out. Only the college ultimately decides, not some anonymous poster on a college forum website. Don’t let others’ opinions discourage you!

I am applying. I’m just curious to know who else might be

@GreenSage yep I already applied! I was considering doing Priority Review but then decided that I should try to get into REMS since I know that I want to go to Medical School.
Good luck!

@tempe39, thanks! Good luck to you as well!
