Anyone applying to REMS? I just sent in my application, but I doubt I'd stand a chance if they picked only 10 people! Arg, that makes me mad. My school stats are pretty nice, full IB and all that extra curricular, blase. SAT II's are decent, 730 Bio M and 760 Math II (even tho 2349823048902384908 ppl have higher scores). Only thing I'm mad about is my SAT score (2060). I want to get higher on this December one, so I guess I'll find out. But yeah, anyone else applying and what are your stats so I can feel even stupider. lol

man... imma be up all night workin on my app -_-
yeah...this program is so hard to get into though! but i want it so badly lol.

ah well.
4.0uw
2310
770 Lit, 740 Bio-M, 720 USH, taking Math 2 this saturday

best of luck, man. hopefully we'll be able to meet up at the interview stage!

no one else is applying for REMS?

yea i'm applying

96.26/100 UW gpa
1520 (math and verbal)
780 math 2c 710 bio

Good luck. This is a really tough program so none of us should keep our hopes high.

I applied to the REMS program last year and didn't get in. I know a few people in the REMS program--one guy had a 1310 on his SAT's, a decent GPA, and his school didn't offer any AP's. It's really about your essays and EC.

UR_emmy, could you please post your stats for our benefit? Thanks.

they only take 10 people for REMS?!?!? wow! (im not applying btw) that's ridiculous.. 10 people!

yeah, if there is anybody on CC that is in this program, I'd greatly appreciate his/her stats. I'm so worried, I want to get in so badly, hopefully they won't rely heavily on SAT I, i'm so horrible at it.

My stats were nothing impressive, I think I had something in the mid 1300's for SAT's and no idea about GPA. (They really don't look at SAT's, I know people who are REMS students with lower SAT's then mine.) I had a lot of ec and community service.

The essays are big. I spent three weeks writing and re-writing mine.

The big thing for me was that I have done a lot in the field of chronic pain managment. They really want hands on experience like that, or being an EMT, etc.

I ended up being rejected because I had a C in AP Bio sophomore year (mono will do that to you!) But even if you don't get into REMS, Rochester is an AMAZING school.

Hey good luck to everyone applying!

Do you get any special scholarship or discount with this program?

no special discounts or scholarships, but, you won't have to take the MCAT which could save you tons of time/worry/money(test prep if you choose so). You'll have more time and freedom to focus on other things and that's important in college!

in general the U of R gives out a lot of scholarships. if you are a competitive REMS applicant you will probably recieve a scholarship regardless.

hey, yeah, i'm applying to rems too. i got in to the school under ED2. my stats are not that great, but i have had a lot of volunteeer/internship experience in basically the same city/town - rochester general hospital and with a cardiology group and i talked about the cardiology i learned in my essays. hopefully, my sat doesn't reduce my chances. 1230/1810, 16/309, 4.1-4.2 w gpa.

hey im applying to REMS too. did anyone get notification of interviews or finalist status?

-zain

nothing.....

ehh

no reply from george washington 7 year program nor this....i think these ppl don't want me :(

yeah...i didn't get anything yet either...i think they tell you if you're a finalist nearing the end of february...i want to know!! i want REMS so badly!!

hey UR Emmy, where are you staying now? (dorm) and what's your major? what freshman dorm do you recommend?

I live in Gilbert and love it. Some people like SueB because you don't have to go outside to get something to eat. But the downside, is you end up eating more than just when your hungry, which just adds to the good ol' freshman fifteen!! The rooms on the quad (Gilbert/Hoeing) are reallly big and its close to everything.

I'm assuming that you applied ED so you also get a choice between single-sex and co-ed halls. I've lived in both and like the all girls halls soooooooo much more! In general people really get along on the single sex halls and always have a sister/brother hall so its really nice.

I'm majoring in neuroscience and film studies (yes I do realize they have nothing to do with each other!)

So, Gilbert is good I hear? Some other students say that Gilbert and Sue B are the best and Hoeing's not that great...Do you have some pictures of your room? i know i know, who takes pictures of their own room, but the website doesn't have good pictures. yup. ed. i'll pick co-ed. i stayed in an all guys building for boys state, it was ok, but because there were no girls there, our ability to judge which girls were really cute just was downgraded...lol. i'm better off co-ed, and i hear the girls are pretty nice there too...
