Renaissance Scholarship

Hello everybody!

I was wondering who has heard from them regarding The Renaissance & Global Scholarship.

Thank you in advance :)

Ren finalists will receive notification by mail in late February/early March. On campus interviews are held during the 2nd or 3rd week of March.

I got the finalist letter.

Anyone has any idea what the interview is generally like? Do we talk about what we have accomplished in school or what we want to accomplish in UR?

I think we talk more about what we want to do at UR.

I got the letter too. It’s all pretty exciting!

Does anyone know what percent of finalists receive the scholarship?

I think the letter said that 1 third of the finalists receive the scholarship. Do you guys know if it includes room + board or does it only cover tuition? Thrilled to be chosen.

Just tuition as far as I’m aware. However, keep in mind that this is just on merit, so if you win this you may also receive need-based financial aid that covers room and board.

is there any International kid who also got an e-mail/letter regarding the Renaissance Scholarship?

I’m an international kid too.

Do the letters all go out at once or do they go out in batches?

All letters notifying Ren finalisst go out at the same time. (Because there is only 1 on campus interview session for for the scholarship and finalists need to attend it.)

oh thanks…I guess DS missed out on this one; he’s a little annoyed and disappointed because someone at his school got the invitation letter who did not have nearly as great a record as he does as far as SAT score, rank, rigor, grades, ec’s. He interviewed last summer, and previous summers did Rochester Scholars. He’s even a legacy, for what it’s worth. I wonder what the criteria is for selecting the finalists? Well congratulations to all of you who were selected, what an honor! Good luck at the interviews. (:

The Ren isn’t about academics. Invitations aren’t based on stats and don’t necessarily go to the best student.

OK thanks! Congrats again to those who were invited, Rochester is a great school!

Hey,

I’m an international student. I have received the invitation letter. I have an interview next Thursday, so I was wondering if there is anybody who can make a mock interview with me. If you also received the letter, I can help you make one, too. :)

Hey M14787 congratz .I am an International Student too who got the invitation too. I wonder if this means it is safe to assume we are accepted?
What do you think the interview will be about?

Congratulations SR2011! I think that this letter means that we were admitted, but the interview is to help the admissions determine the amount of the scholarship each of us will get. Don’t you want to make a mock interview? we can discuss that, too. If your interested, this is my Skype ID: saifsaif92. My interview is this Thursday, 3/13/2014, so please try to add me soon. (Just if you are interested)

Does anybody know what the questions are going to be like?

Hey guys. Fellow Renaissance finalist here, and I just came across this thread. Super stoked to head out to Rochester. See you guys on Wednesday.
