Renee Crown Honors questions

Daughter may be an incoming freshman;
Was not invited into honors, but did recently apply. Has not heard whether she will be admitted into the Honors program and probably won't hear before the May 1 deposit date (99.5 average in outstanding public high school, 670 SATs, 720 in both Chem and Math SAT subject tests). We are told she may not be admitted due to small size of program and need for students in many different majors, etc.

Do you know anything about the criteria for admission?
Website has few specifics re: criteria or perks.
Do they receive preference in class registration?

We will be at admitted student day Monday April 23. Is it worthwhile to approach Honors program and discuss? She applied just before the deadline- this week.

Many thanks.

re: classes--some classes are designated "honors only" and so honors kids sign up first...usually smaller and discussion-based...however, some profs will open this up to petition by traditional students if the cap isn't met.

nice scores, btw. hope she gets it!

I'd definitely go talk to them. the directer, Sam Gorovitz is great.

honors students get to register early for classes because they have more requirements to fill. The honors courses are great. Honor students who don't sign up for an LC will be put in an honors lc.
Criteria for admission is ify. they're looking for a type of student, not a set of stats. Gl to your D!
