Are there single rooms available for the newly renovated West Quad? I was assigned a double in MCSP learning communities, but I would prefer a single.
Singles are much, much more expensive and you would be on the hook for covering the cost differential on your own. (no financial aid assistance). If you can, you could call and ask. I’m an incoming freshman but I’ve heard from others there aren’t many singles in West Quad so the only way you’d know is to ask them.
A single room costs ~$2100 more, and it will be out of your own pocket.

I am curious as to the specifics of the double though. Like whether beds are bunk beds, the space, bathrooms, etc.
You can make it a bunk bed, or separated twin-XL beds. You can find that information on the housing website. There are basically two main types of furniture and both can be organised in the way you want. My D made her bed lofted and have desk space underneath. Her friends had the bed half lofted and use the under bed space for storage.

It’s one room and not that big but remember you aren’t in it all that much. You’re in classes, labs, library, eating, whatever. West Quad is a great location and you can get into the Union without having to go outside in the dead of winter. So many people will be jealous.
