EA Accepted OOS IL
4.06 w. 1310 SAT 9 APs
Leadership Award
Biomedical Engineering
Can anyone shed some light on how merit scholarship (if any) is communicated? My S21 is accepted but there is no mentioning of merit scholarship in the letter. His Raise Me profile advises he earns a micro scholarship so I am surprised we didn’t find any information. Thanks in advance!
You’ll find the financial aid information using the link at the bottom of the acceptance letter. The link should say Financial Aid Award Letter.
My daughter got accepted into Biomedical engineering, 3.94 uw, good ECs, research in stroke rehabilitation devices, 13 APs (5 in senior year), national merit semifinalist, RPI medalist, AS from local community college( graduated 6 months ahead of high school graduation) etc,. Got the RPI medalist scholarship.
I got in EA! However, I got a conditional acceptance rate, meaning I have to take pre-calculus (B or better) and send the grade before I can step foot on campus. If I decide to go, I’ll probably take a pre-calculus class at a community college/university over the summer. Pretty happy ngl!
Accepted! Rensselaer Medalist, white female, math major, 1600, 4.0, 11 APS + 3 DE, good ECs, recs, essays
Thanks for the information. We don’t have that link at the end of the letter. Granted we did not complete the financial aid documents (CSS profile to be specific), but other schools still grant merit scholarships without completing that step. Maybe he just does not earn any merit scholarship LOL.
DS got accepted.
1470 SAT 11AP oodles of ec
Leadership scholarship
Sooooo expensive though.
We didn’t complete the CSS profile just FASFA and received the leadership award.
Thanks for the info. Well, my son participated in Raise me and he was told he should receive a minimum of $52K micro-scholarships through the program, so we are surprised he does not get any merit. Now it is really too expensive to attend!
What’s microscholarships?
Well I cannot post link here, but if you google raise me scholarship you can find the details. In a nutshell, RPI and other colleges like Northeastern partner with this organization. You complete a profile on their website including academic, EC, awards, etc., and they will compute a minimum amount of merit scholarship that the college will grant. My son happens to get accepted by Northeastern too and receive a merit scholarship exceeding the Raise Me amount. That’s why I am really surprised RPI letter of acceptance has no mention of that.
May be worth reaching out to RPI to see if there is a mistake.
I got deferred to regular decision with a CS major. Was not good news but can’t say I was at all surprised. I still love RPI and am reassuring myself in the possibility to transfer (I doubt they’d give me any-much merit and RPI is ridiculously priced, even if I get admitted RD). I have a 3.8 GPA at a competitive high school although ranked at about 50/225. Compelling essay, although I gave them the wrong one to start (so that definitely didn’t look great for me). Wasn’t confident with my SATs so those were left unsent, but I believe my rec letters only helped me. Praying for the second decision!
My son deferred as well.

@Momof0ne, where did you see the award for being a medalist? I am a medalist also but there is nothing posted on my financial aid section and there was no mention of it on my acceptance letter. My parents have not submitted the CSS profile - is that a requirement to get the merit for being a medalist? Should I convince my parents to fill out the CSS? Thank you in advance for the advice.
In the acceptance/Decision letter there is a link to “Financial Aid Award Letter” on the bottom, it is a pdf that you can download. I am not sure if CSS Profile is a requirement, but we submitted it along with the application in October.
