Thank you

It’s a math/science/ engineering oriented school. It’s not really strong in the humanities. It’s rank is in the 40s which is good. Confirm this with USNWR. Greek life and other social clubs are definitely present here but RPI is for a certain type of student. Not just anyone. It’s a technical school so it wouldn’t be the best for someone looking to major in history, english, journalism etc.

You should probably do some extended research on this school before asking on CC.

Totally true. My uncle got his engineering degree there and now does work for NASA, so its top notch in math, science, engineering, etc. I’ve heard that Troy is kinda sketchy though.

It’s a boring town to be totally blunt.

From what I’ve seen, there’s more collaboration than competition as people want to do their very best, but at the same time want to help those that need it. Engineering and sciences are top notch- those that work hard are rewarded by job offers and top grad school admissions. Students are friendly and approachable because everyone is a fun-loving nerd Everyone has his/her own plans and goals in mind and are preparing for them by studying hard.

Negatives:
Weather can be a downer sometimes, but it’s not too bad.
Location- Troy isn’t the best city, but fun can be had downtown. Just watch out during the night.
Humanities are good, but not the best. A lot of the humanities are interdisciplinary with technology and the sciences so don’t expect a liberal arts style learning environment.
The infamous ratio- there are about 3 guys to every girl.

The acceptance rate is around 50% with a self-selective applicant pool. As long as your grades and test scores are good, you have a high chance of getting in; the hard part is getting out :O

How dangerous is Troy? Also are they generous on financial aids?

here is my resume see if i can get in
