I've been accepted to all of my schools, and narrowed it down to either RPI or Wentworth for architecture. I keep going back and forth between them, and cannot make a decision. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks

I dont know anything about wentworth

DD will be going to RPI for Arch this fall, as far as we can tell its an excellent arch education, and a solid school all around (if a little weak on the liberal arts)

My son was also accepted to RPI ARCH program but we haven’t been able to visit as we are on the west coast. He was also accepted at Cal Poly for ARCH and University of Oregon. RPI offered the best fin. aid, but the choice between schools is very very hard. What can you tell us about the RPI ARCH program? Cal Poly did not require any portfolio or recommendations or essays, and apparently decides completely on the numbers ( weighted GPA and test scores). Portfolios were required by both RPI and Univ of Oregon which makes me ( parent) feel like they chose my son more on his personal information rather than just on his numbers. RPI is also much smaller, which seems like it might be a good thing for an ‘on the quiet side’ student. Cal Poly however is rated in the top 5 in the country for ARCH and has gorgeous weather… Thoughts? Help?

is that even a question?? RPI lol

why lol? Can you explain?

all honesty, RPI is a prestigious school…in a league with Cornell, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, and all those other schools that try to compete with MIT (Caltech excluded…they’re in a league of their own)…Wentworth is 3rd tier…

as far as RPI vs Cal Poly vs University of Oregon…i wouldn’t know (for architecture specifically)…all i can say is as a general university, RPI is the highest ranked and has the best students, and is the toughest to get into…BUT it’s also more of an engineering and science school…you’d have to factor in other things, like the architecture program itself, location, school size, etc…if Cal Poly has an excellent architecture program, and your kid wants to stay on the west coast, i’d say it’s better if he went to Cal Poly

the “lol” answer from before was for RPI vs Wentworth…they’re not even comparable…

this is a little late but i ended up choosing RPI! Although i know it is better academically than wentworth, there was something that kept me from choosing. Im excited for the fall though

I dont know anything about RIT but I do know that Wentworth Institute of Technology is not very good. I go to school across the street from them at MassArt (arch major - go there!) and the students there are obnoxious and the buildings are mostly out of date and unkept.
