renting a condo/apartment

I'll be a new Longhorn this Fall and I'm looking for near campus condo for rental. I'm a business student and want to be near classes, campus, restaurants, nightlife etc.. Can anyone offer suggestions for location or throw out other considerations when choosing where to live. Things that are important to me are location, safety, parking, convenience etc..

Thanks for the help!

I went through green light apartment locaters (I think the guys name was Jason). They really helped us find places we wouldn’t have found on our own. My son ended up at Pecan Grove apts at 52nd and Lamar. It is very close to an area called The Triangle. It is filled with great restaurants, transportation really easy via bus to campus. Plenty of parking.

Most places are already gone by now. West Campus is a pretty great place to live, especially for you since you seem like a party person. ;)

Quiet little shout out the College Houses and ICC co-ops . :)

I’ll suggest

[College Houses Cooperatives: Student Owned and Student Run](http://www.collegehouses.org/)

They have everything you are looking for plus they are cheaper than most. (only downside is you have to work (do labor) 2 hours a week and need to like Coop style living.

And they’re all different! So check 'em out. :d

Basically anywhere in west campus is in close proximity to campus, food, and fun. The fun also largely depends on where your friends live. Just don’t opt for the large apartments. You can get the same space for much cheaper if you look around!

North campus is quiet and has an older demographic than west campus. you get a more neighborhood feel, as apposed to being amongst apartment complexes. also, if you’re going to live anywhere more north then 30th, you’re going to want a bike so that you’re not dependent on your car (public parking in austin is limited) or bus (slow- requires patience and time, which most college students don’t have).

It also depends on if you’re going to spending much time on campus. i can’t imagine living more than a 15 minute walk from McCombs. sometimes assignments or supplies get left at home. it’s great to have enough free time to zip back home.
