<p>How does studying abroad typically work with renting an apartment? At least some students who go abroad have to be renting an apartment during that term.</p>
<p>I'm planning on renting an apartment with some friends from sophomore year on. <em>I could just pay my share while I'm abroad, but that's a waste.</em></p>

<p>Sublet it to someone else while you’re away. Problem: solved.</p>
<p>It may not be that simple for the OP. I personally would feel a little weird about sublet; it’s not my first option. </p>

Either give up the apartment and just rent some other place when you get back, keep on paying for it while you are away, or sublet it to a friend or another student.</p>
<p>I would just sublet it out to another friend or something.</p>
<p>My friend is about to go to London for a year and he’s been through this. Subletting is really the only option.</p>
