Renting houses

My room mate and I are planning to move into a house next year. I was wondering if anyone can comment on the rent around riverside?

I heard houses around Blaine St. are about $2000(?) for 4 rooms.

We're willing to drive from Moreno Valley or Rubidoux (nearby cities).. if it's significantly cheaper. Does anyone know these areas? Any comments about them? Ghetto? Decent? Price range?

Just curious, housing is taken into account when it comes to financial aid right (for those that qualify for it)? I know they just take the money off financial aid for dorms.. but do we get money (directly to us) if we're going to live off campus?

Not really sure on the first questions but yes you can get money for living off campus. I’m renting a room off campus and in my CAL grant I have a section that’s specifically allotted for room and board. It’s all one big chunk of cash but in the outline it shows how much they give for what.

Moreno Valley is not the greatest place. There are some areas of Riverside not so great either, but I don’t know Riverside area well. If you want to drive farther the Palm Springs area (about an hour, maybe more) is cheaper, and mostly nice. So is Temecula and Murrieta, but again a bit of a drive.

You can definitely find some good housing around and a little outside of downtown by market. Also look for some new housing off Canyon Crest, south of the 215. You can definitely find some cheaper 4 bedroom houses.

I’m looking at renting out two properties, for $1600 each, their both 4 bed 2 baths, so $400 a room, I’m waiting for the approval and inspections.
