I’m a very good student, usually all A’s, and started high school this year. I’m currently in 9th grade, and I’ve been thinking of repeating the grade because I’ve had long-term illnesses (yes, plural) and have missed well over half of the year so far. I have been looking on the web for advice about these situations, but all of the problems are that the child is immature or getting bad grades, neither of which is my reason for thinking about repeating. I am currently at a private school which is very understanding of my situation, but at this point it the sheer amount of make-up work that I would need to do to get caught up is astronomical. It would probably shred me mentally and emotionally. So, is repetition the right thing to do? (all of my illnesses have been fixed and I will not be sick next year) Thanks!
- What does your GC say?
- Have you been doing any work this year? Did you ahve home study or anything?
- When you say make up work…what do you mean? Do you mean that you have not completed Freshman year or that you have not learned the material as well as you would like?
- Can your family afford another year in private school? or if on scholarship, would they cover a 5th year?
