I studied 2 years at a 4 year university and is currently attending a community college, which gives me about 45-50 transferrable quarter units. My prereqs( the ones that don't fulfill the IGETC ) adds up to about 20. So if I finish my prereqs and IGETC and my 4 year transferrable credits, i'm going to be in senior standing.( many UCS will automatically reject me) . So I was wondering if it is possible that I can retake some of the arts/humanities and social & behavioral sciences courses that I took at my 4 years university, that way I'll get credit for one class instead of two ( for example, that way the history class I took at my 4 years won't count because I'm taking it again at my cc). That way i'll have less credits and be able to finish the IGETC. However I got B's and A's in all of my classes ( I never gotten a C).So will that work? will they let me retake those classes? please help!

50 quarter units /1.5 = 33 semester units

33 sem. + 20 sem. = 53 semester units. You need 60 semester units to be junior standing.

Anyway, for things like this you will need to see a counselor. We can’t tell you what they may decide to do.

If the classes are exactly the same then you can’t retake them. Are you transferring from a CSU, you can use assist.org to see if they are the same. You can use the university classes for IGETC. This site shows how different UC’s see senior standing [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/transfer/advising/answers/applying.html#5)

grey: you didn’t not count in the number of IGETC credits yet. You only added up my 4 year college credits and my prereqs. IGETc is about 65 quarter units ( In total). so its 50 + 20+ 65=thats 135. thats alot of credits! thats why I want to repeat some of the classes, so that I won’t be automatically rejected

drift: I went to a foreign university, so therefore any coursework completed there cannot satisfy the areas in IGETC. so…i can’t repeat the same courses?
