Repeating a course at a different community college.

So, I have one ‘C’ and one ‘F’ on my transcript. I will be retaking the class I got an ‘F’ in if UCSD rejects my application this year (which with a couple extra classes will boost my GPA up to a little over 3.8). I will try to petition to retake the class I got a ‘C’ in (which will bring my GPA up to just over 3.9, giving me a shot at UC Berkley and pretty much ensuring my acceptance at UCSD), but I just spoke with a counselor at my CC (MiraCosta College), and he said that if I re-take that class at a different CC (like Palomar), then it will completely replace the ‘C’ grade. I want to speak with another counselor on this matter, but does anyone here know if that will work or not? Chances are MiraCosta won’t let me retake the class I got a ‘C’ in.

The class was Discrete Mathematics, online. I am very strong in math, and expected it to be similar to Calculus, but it was much more about concepts than actual manipulating numbers so it was tougher for me to understand on my own, and the teacher that posted the videos had a thick accent so it was hard to understand him, and my work schedule made it so I couldn’t go in during tutoring hours. I hope this is enough reason for MiraCosta to let me retake the class so I can take it not online, and boost my GPA enough to give me a shot at Berkley if I want it (I don’t know if I do, but I want my options open).
