Repeating a course...Please REPLY

My GPA is 3.22 as of right now. I have 2.5 sememsters to go. The reason my GPA is so low is because I got a C in General Chemistry I(5.00 Credit Hours), and English Composition II(4.00 Credit Hours), in my freshman year. However if I can REPEAT those I am fully confident that I can get A's in both of them. That would increase my GPA up to 3.46. But that still is not good enough considering I have very little time to left, 2.5 semesters. Do you think I can pull it off?

Also is repeating a course a good Idea? Do medical school have that previous grade in front of them when they look at your transcript?

I think they get your full transcript. If you think you've caught up with what you missed in those 2 classes, use what time you have left to take some more advanced classes, to show that you that you can learn on your own and excel despite your poor performance during your freshman year. I think they take shortcomings during freshman year more lightly than they do low grades later on. You might want to tell them why you got such low grades, but only if the matter fits in with the rest of your application essay.

But I think I'm still taking a college applications POV; maybe someone with med school application experience can help you more. :)

Thanks for your response man.
