Repeating a grade?

Please read this thread first: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1151488-two-suspensions-college-chances.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1151488-two-suspensions-college-chances.html</a></p>

I regret my actions and I am not trying to avoid the consequences or the responsibilities; I know I really screwed up especially when I'm a junior, and I am planning to write very careful letters to the colleges about the incidents. However, one of the threads suggested that I move to another school. I was actually thinking about transferring, or even repeating a grade. Would the present transcript still be considered when I repeat a grade? Even if it does get considered, would it be better if I repeat a grade? I really want to get into Tufts early decision :(

p.s. I’m an international school student, and if I do move my school I’m 99% sure I’ll be going to America. (I have an American citizenship)

Your present transcript would still be considered. You won’t be able to excise the suspensions from your record.

Moving schools and/or repeating is your decision, but I don’t know how much it’ll help.

Sit down with your parents and the guidance counselor, and talk about this one. If you are currently attending an international school that follows the US curriculum, your counselor has lots of experience helping students get into colleges in the US. He/she will have useful ideas for you.

There is little point in repeating a grade unless you have flat-out failed a bunch of classes. If you do transfer, you will have to send both sets of transcripts and school records when you apply to college.
