Repeating Sophomore Year in High School?

@austinmshauri Sorry, but I am a bit confused. What is your advice? That I do dual enrollment then I go back to public school as an 11th grade? If I do dual enrollment anyways, wouldn’t I still be taking classes at high school and then extra classes at my local community college? That’s why I said I don’t get the point, cause they would still consider me an 11th grader, just that happened to be doing dual enrollment. I’m sorry but your second paragraph just really confused me.

Homeschoolers are allowed to take college courses as part of their home instruction plan. If you’re currently in 10th grade, I’d finish out this year as a homeschooler. I’d also homeschool next year, but report as a 10th grader and take classes at a local college if you feel up to it. In the fall of 2018, you can register with your public school as an 11th grader or continue homeschooling.

Your parents register you as a 10th grader for Fall 2017. You don’t attend high school. You/your parents create a directed plan of studies that must include all requisite subjects, and you’re free to pursue your education in any way you see fit, including taking classes at a community college that count toward your HS requirements or online or through library groups or anything else. You’re not enrolled in your local high school.

@austinmshauri @MYOS1634 Thank you guys so much for all of your advice, it’s been very helpful. My parents have a meeting with my principal this Friday. If they don’t like my original plan, then I try to convince them of homeschooling.

You don’t need your principal’s permission to be homeschooled. It’s strictly your parents’ decision.

@Cressidy, PM me if your parents have any questions. I’ll be glad to help if I can. Good luck.

Ugh I forgot to update this. Well I will be repeating school next year as a 10th grader. In the classes that do not have AP or Regents classes at the end of the year I will be getting credit for and taking the 11th grade level. I will be continuing with homebound teaching. Thanks for all the advice , and I won’t forget your kindness and patience!

I’m happy you get to be a 10th grader for real (rather than enrolled in the 10th grade but really in hospital/recovery not in high school).
Good luck, keep us updated!
