Hey all!

I go to a fairly large public school, and I do not have the best relationship with my counselor. We maybe talk to each other once or twice a year, and he is often very intimidating and annoyed. He just wants to make sure that you graduate, not apply for out of country schools.

However, my principal knows me very well and is willing to write me a reference letter. I heard I can replace the school counselor recommendation letter with a principal recommendation letter on the Common App. How does this work?

Do I:

"Invite" my principal under "Guidance Counselor" to the common app?

Will my principal then fulfill the role of a GC? For example, uploading transcript as such? Or would she just write the reference letter and let the guidance counselor do the rest?

Any help would be much appreciated!
