On the UC App it says to Report AP Scores that I took in high school. I haven’t use any of the AP’s to get unit credit in college so do I still have to report? I used my Calc AB score of 3 to be placed into the same Calc 1 class in college…so that’s about it.
You need to report them all, even scores of 1 and 2. I believe it says that in the application. When they get the college board report they will see all exams and leaving any out could cause a rejection of your application.
Having low scores will have no affect on the application. They don’t care.
@lindyk8 i didn’t report any AP score on my UC TAG to UCI…would it be fine if I just have my college board AP scores canceled?
No, you can’t cancel them. Simply put them in the main application and note in additional comments you didn’t put them in the TAG as you thought they weren’t necessary. TAG works off the final apucation and TAU.
i mean theres no way for them to know I used the ap score of 3 to enroll into the same class. I could just say I took a placement test and got into calc 1. I understand if I was getting UC transfer credit.
You can do whatever you want but you’re being dishonest in terms of their request. So yeah, they may or may not find out, but I don’t support that so that’s not my answer. Sorry.
@lindyk8 So I only reported my AP scores for Chinese since it can clear my IGETC requirements (and also it was the AP test that I passed)… I didn’t know that I was supposed to report the other scores since I dind’t use it to clear my prereqs/IGETC. What do i do??
I would just list them all in the application. If you already submitted the application you can still update AP exams.
@lindyk8 I only listed my AP chinese when I submitted my TAG… so if I listed all of my APs on the actual application, what would happen?
Nothing will happen. Just note in additional comments that you didn’t realize you were supposed to list all scores when you did TAG. You are not in violation of any TAG requirements, and self-corrected.
I called UCI admissions and they said I dont have too unless Im using the AP scores for transfer credit…confused
Really? That’s not what the rules say…
I mean, in theory, that makes sense, but again, that’s not the official stance.
I guess I’m confused as to why you just don’t list them?
@lindyk8 If i report them…UCI is going to ask for the AP reports and so I have to send a lot of em in later which cost money. Ive read where people were fine even when they did not self-report their scores.
If anyone else has experience of not self-reporting AP scores on UC app and not having any trouble after being admitted. Please let me know. Specifically to UCI would be great.
@Hafmanhafmazin I really have no idea. I’ve always been of the belief you need to list all, and that many UCs in fact like seeing the sub-par scores, because it shows you went the extra mile. Now, I don’t know. Maybe some UCs are indifferent.
If you only have one exam and UCI says it’s fine, then I guess it is. They are the admissions office so would know best.
Why don’t you just go in and cancel them all as you said? Then nothing’s up there, right?
@lindyk8 yea ill most likely do that
College board is an ass in that once you receive the score, you can’t cancel it. You can cancel your scores within a couple of days after you take it, but once you receive your scores, you can’t cancel it.
I see. Thanks @musicallyweird.
Ok good news…I called UC admissions and they said I can skip AP score section if I dont want to use any for transfer credit.
