Couple of things that I noted from President Oden’s speech -

Carleton will be building one or two new residence halls in the spring (pending board approval).

Carleton will be increasing the number of tenured faculty by about 15.

Carleton will be reducing the number of students (no timetable or details on this, though).

fireflyscout, you mentioned (on another board) about Carleton renovating the former Northfield Middle School. H, S, and I noticed that building when we were at Carleton to drop off S. We wondered if the college owned it. Thanks for solving the mystery!

For enquiring minds, FFscout said that Carleton will renovate the former middle school "into an arts complex which will also house the English department and contain several high-tech classrooms."

Limner, Carleton's already announced the hiring of an architectural firm, some studios are already in use by resident artists, and most of a $35 million committment to the arts will go directly into renovations of the century old building.
