Report on SAT retake.

A couple of months ago many of you were kind enough to weigh in on the question of whether my son should retake the SAT. He had scored an 800 CR, 800 W and 670 M on his first try. The math score seemed low considering his 800 on the SAT II Math 2c and 5 on the Calc AP AB test. In any case, based on a lot of good advice he decided to retake the test, and raised his math score to 740. So it all worked out for the best. Thanks.

Good news, thanks! Out of curiosity, what were his scores on the CR and W when he retook the exam?

Well done! Reminds me of D when she didn't want to retake based on 720 V and 710 M. Second time around she got 800 V, so she was happy she took our advice.

Thanks so much for the follow-up. Congrats to your son!

I second the "Thank You"! It is really helpful to read real life reports as it helps frame a lot of our discussion that remain generic in nature. I get a good number of private reports of score changes, but it is great to see them posted publicly.

The reality is that no two students face the same problem. A gifted student who needs to boost his math score is in a different position than a verbally gifted student who wants to boost a math score but is struggling in this subject. In the end, only the student can make the correct call.

He got another 800 on the CR and a 710 on the W.
