Just heard from my dd whilst she waits for her shuttle to BWI. Her CVW was awesome--I think she's made her decision! I think we'll be practicing up our Anchors Aweigh rather than Wild Blue Yonder or Semper Paratus... I'd still like her to do her visit to AFA, but it's up to her to decide. She said her roommates were great and she saw some folks she met at NASS. Interesting evening--they went to the boxing match!

was the boxing anything like the movie? haha

Well, she's not seen the movie, so she probably couldn't say!

Sounds like she's made a good, informed choice. Our daughter is still leaning most of the way Navy, even though she hasn't been there yet. Hopefully she'll get NASS.

When you get more particulars let us know the in's and outs of CVW.

Navy's a a country club, why would you not want to go?

She was pleased that they paired them up as "drags" by what sport they were interested in--that worked well. She was disappointed to not be able to speak to either the swim coach or the crew coach--timing didn't work out. The girls were upbeat and positive. She came home jazzed about Naval Architecture! She was surprised at the lack of knowledge that some of the drags had--questions that they should have found the answer to many months ago--like what are Reef Points! She found Bancroft Hall baffling still...

She made a big step today--sent off notification to several schools that she won't be attending. It's starting to feel real, to us and her!

heartcross,

What a great feeling to have the final decision so close! And I would have bet on CGA for your daughter. (That's why I don't bet.) I know you would love to have her in CO, but it sounds like she really has gone through this process so thoroughly that you can be confident in her decision.

LOL! I love watching these kids Momoftwins. I would have bet on AFA for her. This tickles me pink. Hang in there Heartcross! Sharing in your excitement!

Davy: noogie, really hard Get back to work.

I am glad your daughter will be attending the NA. However, a word of advise. At this time last year, my son was all set to attend the AFA, and in late April, with no prior history or symptons, he had a kidney stone attack which medically DQ's him on the spot. I would advise your daughter to keep at least one other option open because you never know what will happen between now and late June. For my son it worked out with a medical waiver, however as he was also accepted at the CGA, and had Navy and AF ROTC scholarships, some of these programs would not consider him for a medical waiver like the AFA. Good luck.

districtjustice: thank you for the cautionary tale - in our excitement it is easy to think that everything is finally set. A lot can happen between now and end of the indoc or beast or whatever your academy calls it to makes sure all goes well. Peace of mind may be worth the cost of a deposit!

Heartcross: another budding Naval Architect! That's great!

Thank you for that advice--it's good! She hasn't actually turned down her ERAU NROTC scholarship, plus we're going to put in her deposit for Hillsdale. They've been very generous with the financial aid and I know she'd be happy there too. It was always her back-up plan--to go OCS...

The CVW sealed it for me too. Congrats to your daughter--here we come 28 June!
