report successes after graduation here!

Hi! I thought I'd start a new thread (well, I think it's new; I didn't have the time nor the inclination to search through 36 pages of threads, lol!)
I wanted to know if any of our CC posters (parents OR students!) could report any successes in getting an MT job after graduation and ALSO what school they (or their son/daughter) attended. INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOWWWWWWWWW!! ;)

I would add that it would be insightful to know how many got agents from the class, how many got work 6 months to a year out, and how many continue to work 3-5 years out at the very least because a job fresh out of college does not make a career, albeit it is a start.

Yes, ttmom, all of that is important to know, also!!
Hopefully 6 months from now, when my d graduates, you won't hear that she's washing dishes at Sardi's, lol!!

I am happy to report that my class from Circle in the Square ('07) is doing very well!

One friend just landed a role on Cold Case

A girl from the class of '06 is in Hair at The Public and was in this month's issue of Vogue

A boy from '06 made his Broadway debut in Coram Boy and since has appeared in national commercials, on Law and Order, New Amsterdam, and had a recurring role on a soap opera

A boy from my class has been playing Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer national tour

A boy from '06 played Seaweed in the Hairspray national tour

A boy from '07 was courted by many agents and was offered some pretty huge roles, but chose to return home to Spain to originate the role of the Beast in Madrid's new production of Beauty and the Beast

A girl from '07 played Anybodys in the 50th Anniversity European Tour of West Side Story

I have had a fantastic year since graduation...I am so grateful to have gone to Circle. I always thought that in order to be successful I had to go to a CCM or a Carnegie Mellon or a Juilliard, but Circle was absolutely the right program and the right path for me. Since graduation I have appeared in all four shows in an Equity summer stock theatre's season (including playing my DREAM role, Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray), had a lengthy run in a non-equity national tour, and am now playing a lead role at another Equity theatre. I have had very little down time between jobs and have been SO lucky to fulfill many of my goals. I still have a long ways to go...but I feel very fortunate to have at least gotten off to a good start. I can't recommend Circle enough.

circlegrad: wow! Congratulations and kudos to you and all of the very successful members of your class. I am so glad that you chose to post here and please check back often to let us know what you are doing!! :)

circlegrad, welcome and thanks for sharing about grads from your program. Would love to hear what you are doing and also anything else you care to share about your program since I recommend it to many students. My own daughter trained with two faculty from CITS, here in VT, particularly her voice teacher of five years.

Also, the boy playing Robbie Hart on the Wedding Singer Tour, is from here and my D was in Grease with him in our state in her final year of HS (which was before he entered CITS but after he graduated college). We were so thrilled to learn when he was cast in WS.

My d. is looking at schools now and this is just the type of info. that we find really helpful. I appreciate your post.

My daughter, who graduated in May 07 , from PSU, is currently in "Gypsy" on Broadway.

Wa Hoo!!! What a fun thread!

Wow - this is so great to hear all the success stories! Keep 'em coming!!

As PSUDad stated, his D is in Gypsy on Broadway along with another 2008 PSU grad; also class of 2007 has someone in Xanadu, someone in the pre-broadway production of Little House on the Prairie in MN, someone in Oklahoma at Paper Mill, quite a few current students and grads at regional theaters all over the country this summer and (brag, brag) my D will be doing the world premier stage version of High School Musical 2 in Atlanta this fall and her bf, a 2008 grad was just cast in the national tour of Grease! PSU grads....woo hoo!

Congrats, bdwaymom!! That's awesome!! What parts did they get?

Everyone's parts are varied...some are ensemble, some have principal roles...my D is ensemble and probably covering one of the principals as well...she'll know more when rehearsal starts in October. Very excited!

bdwaymom....I am so delighted to learn of your D's exciting casting news!! That is so terrific! I am not surprised as she is very talented but I know it is challenging in the real world out there to get work and she did it! She's on her way! Please give her my good wishes. And congrats to her boyfriend too.

Thanks so much Soozie! Yes, life in the "real world" can be quite daunting, but so far, so good. Much love to you and yours... I know my D speaks with yours every so often. Hope all is well.

A PSU 2007 grad is also in the national tour of A Chorus Line

OMG...it was late last night when I was posting and was trying to think of everyone...you're so right!!!

More news, my S, a Tisch grad, just survived 6 (or more cuts) of a Fuerzabruta (Off-Broadway) audition, and was "approved for the show." No role yet, but is in "the wings" as a replacement. He's thrilled. It was a crazy, grueling audition, and he had a blast!

CONGRATS TO YOUR SON, JASMOM!

That is wonderful news. Keep us updated as it is very exciting.

Jasmon,

Wow that is so exciting! Congratulations!!! Please keep us all informed about the show and dates. I am always looking for shows when I am in the city.
