Woo Hooo Point Park!!! My d is a junior who is going on tour with “Cats” for 7 months.
Congrats bbutcher to your son! Love it!!!

hushinfazen…just wanna say here “publicly” another huge congrats to your D on her casting and imminent start to the CATS National Tour! Woo Hoo to your D!

hushinfazen - Congratulations to your D on the tour of Cats! Hope she has a great experience!

hushinfazen ~ I’m sure my S must know your daughter…I’ll have to ask him. These kids are so connected with facebook and their cell phones. I know there are a lot of great things happening with PP students/graduates! Congrats to you & your D!!

Just saw a UArts grad play the role of Mark in the National tour of A Chorus Line.

I’m going to see ACL next weekend – I also know recent graduates of Syracuse and Elon in that cast.

A recent grad from Tisch CAP21/ETW is in it too.

as well as a recent JMU alum. Looking forward to seeing ACL in December in Richmond.

I think I remember some talk a while back about Elon’s Phantom? He’s in WSS on Broadway right now, he’s playing Tony twice a week! (Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees)

Hey CC!

My name is John Yi and I am a senior MT at Elon University.

Just wanted to give clarification a few of our graduates’ successes!

After bringing in casting directors and agents from NY to Elon’s campus rather than having a senior showcase, some of the work for the members of the class of '10 is:

Eric Mann - A Chorus Line Nat’l Tour (Mike)
Christopher Wood - Spring Awakening Nat’l Tour (Melchior)
Julianne Katz - Fiddler on the Roof Nat’l Tour (Hodel)
Courtney Markowitz - Spring Awakening Nat’l Tour (Ilse)
Erin Burniston - Spring Awakening Nat’l Tour (Ensemble)

Other graduates’ work:

Matt Shingledecker (class of '08) - West Side Story on Broadway (Tony)
Jeff Ostermueller (class of '09) - Spring Awakening Nat’l Tour (Ensemble)
Lindsay Northen - Wicked on Broadway (Ensemble/Glinda u/s)
Daniel Watts - In the Heights on Broadway (Swing; u/s Graffiti Pete)

… And the list goes on!

Best,
John

Congratulations to all of you!

Actually, there are 2 Elon grads on the ACL tour: add Emily Rice to the list.

Just came back from seeing a performance of that show; it is excellent and I think much better than the recent B’way revival, which I found lackluster. I love to read the bios in the Playbills, and of those who listed their schools, cast members attended the following:

AMDA
Ithaca (BA)
Columbia (BA)
U-Louisiana/Lafayette (BFA)
Syracuse (BFA) – 3 cast members
Penn State (BFA) – 2 cast members
BoCo (BFA)
U-Arts (BFA)
Point Park (BFA)
Elon (BFA) – 2 cast members
JMU (BA)
UCO (BFA?)
NYU (BFA)
FSU (BFA)
Shenandoah (BFA)

If UCO is University of Northern Colorado, I believe it is a BA program.

Univ. of Northern Colorado is a BA by audition, yes. Univ. of Colorado is a BFA in MT.

However, I believe the young man playing Zach in A Chorus Line Tour went to UCO which I believe refers to University of Central Oklahoma, which offers a BM. He is a native of Oklahoma.

That’s what I was guessing it was too. Wasn’t sure what the degree was, as he didn’t specify.

I know that my former student on the tour is having a blast. I am glad to hear that the show is great. I am looking forward to seeing it in December.

The young man playing Zach who went to Central Oklahoma has in his online bio that his degree is in Musical Theater and Dance. The MT degree at COU is a BM.

Onstage - thanks for your great report on the ACL tour! We also loved the show and loved meeting you. (FYI to all -my son is the one playing Mike Costa!). Emily Rice from Eric’s Elon class does a great job as Vicki in the cut group / backstage singers / and understudies multiple roles. I did get to meet most of the other cast members that you all mentioned above and found them most delightful! Go see it if you get a chance! Check out schedule at [A Chorus Line on Tour](http://www.achorusline.com).

We are so fortunate that we get to see Fiddler with Julianne and Spring Awakening with 4 Elon grads within the next month!!

John Yi - thanks for sharing the word about Elon (and congrat’s to you on Children of Eden at Elon!)

I believe Elon grad’s from 2009 are also in the Spamalot tour (Jess W.), Cats tour (Matthew G.) and The Grinch that Stole Christmas (Katie E.). So proud of our graduates!

PS - KatMT - I did get to meet your former student briefly - what a doll!

To all - Ryan, who plays Zack, did go to University of Central Oklahoma and is from Norman. He’s the tallest guy in the cast, and Eric is the shortest, so they decided to be “bus buddies” - they sit together on the bus. When they sleep on the bus, Eric gets the seats and Ryan the floor so he can stretch his legs! Life on the bus! Eric got a Kindle for his b-day that he’s enjoying to pass the bus time.

The graduates from all the named schools were absolutely adorable; to name a few - Syracuse girl playing Cassie - AMAZING, BOCO girl playing Sheila - a wonderful actress, able to pass for way more than her years in age!, Penn State (2), Point Park, and Shenandoah grads all did great job in some of the other good female roles, the guys from FSU and U Arts were wonderful in their parts and so very nice and personable, NYU grad playing Val got the most laughs of all in her role, and we adored the guy who recently graduated from AMDA but previously had a dance career in Israel (he’s Eric’s roommate and plays Larry).
