report successes after graduation here!

Thanks so much, Ericsmom! :)

I wish I could see her in it....I thought you said the tour was coming to VT but I have not seen it in any listings here. :(

rossji, I have a friend who saw it recently, too, and they loved your D's performance! No surprise, though, she's a very talented young woman. :)

Susan, the tour will be in Burlington, VT at the Flynn Center on May 6.

Thank you so much for that, AlwaysAMom.....RossJi had told me it was coming to VT but I never saw it listed in anything but maybe that was cause I looked a while back and it was so far in advance, I don't know. I hope to go see it. I saw it on Broadway with my kids but my husband never saw it and I definitely want to see RossJi's D in it as my D has always told me what a great voice she has. We've met but I haven't seen her perform live...but have heard one great recording! I'll mark it on my calendar and luckily it is before NYU graduation (which I can't miss!).

You're welcome, Susan. :)

I heard yesterday from my D that a friend of hers who is a 2006 CMU grad has been cast in the lead role of the new Sister Act musical to open in the West End. She did a workshop production of the show in California and has also been on the soap All My Children. Very talented young woman.

That's great news...and that they also cast an American in the role too.

This news just in. Penn State grad Natalie Weiss has just been cast as the Elphaba understudy in the Wicked tour.

I knew about Natalie; that is great for her.

I want to clarify what I wrote up thread back in December....on that same Wicked Tour, Carrie Manolakos, CAP21 grad, is the Elphaba standby, not understudy.

Natalie's doing an ensemble track, too - and it's a really interesting story for the theatre newbies reading here. She has been in MANY times for the creative team and knew she was on their very short list. A girl in the cast was injured, they were already in rehearsal, and Natalie's being put in came down to her fitting the costumes that were already made. She didn't fit exactly, but they brought her back for another day of costume fittings and made it work! :) She got the offer yesterday and went into rehearsal today.

I heard about the other girl's injury, which is too bad. What will happen when that girl returns in April?

Natalie's contract is for the period of time until Anne is expected to return, which, from what I understand from someone else in the cast is April 20. These 'fill-in' opportunities can sometimes be very valuable. This is especially true if she's covering an ensemble track, since it's unlikely that she'll get to go on as Elphaba. When an actor is able to work with a cast and be seen by TPTB, it often will lead to a more permanent contract in the future. This is particularly a good thing with a show like Wicked which is likely to be around forever. ;)

I would be really surprised if Natalie did not get a permanent contract in some production of the show in the near future. People are constantly leaving and they love to recycle.

Natalie Weiss is amazing <3

OMG - that "costume" story reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode where Greg only got the part of the lead singer because he fit the leather jacket, lol! I guess it wasn't too far fetched!!!

Just a quik question for you all because I know the network of people here is so great. Has anyone heard from the muny for casting this summers season yet? Thanks guys :)

MUNY is doing auditions in NYC this week. I imagine after those are finished they will make casting decisions.

They are only auditioning EPAs in NYC so it is possible the already have determined ensemble but no calls have been made yet.

Actually, my D is EMC and auditioned for MUNY at their call yesterday in NYC. It is an EPA posting but if time permits they will see EMC and non-equity.

That is interesting becasue of comments made by TPTB at the St Louis auditions so time will tell. Good luck to your daughter.

Sorry to sounds so ignorant....but what is TPTB?
